* WALCH F.A. CO., USA
A RARE AND UNUSUAL .31 PERCUSSION TEN-SHOT SUPERIMPOSED CHARGE REVOLVER, MODEL 'NAVY', serial no. 1399,
circa 1860, with octagonal 3 1/4in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'WALCH FIRE-ARMS CO NEW-YORK, PAT'D FEB 8 1859', bead fore-sight, open brass frame, the barrel retained by wedge and screw, extra long five chambered cylinder with raised ridges concealing the touch-holes for the forward charges, twin hammers acting in sequence from the single spur trigger and replacement smooth walnut grips
Other Notes: An ingenious if inherently dangerous means of increasing fire-power, recent research has shown that the majority of Walch revolvers were actually sold off by Winchester after their acquisition of the Walch company in the 1860's.
